James Patterson Honors Program
Mission
The mission of the James Patterson Honors Program is to prepare a special group of Manhattan University students for successful, ethical lives. The unique curriculum and extraordinary programming of the James Patterson Honor Program will transform students into polished leaders, ready to innovate, inspire, and change lives in positive ways.
Requirements and Programming
As part of the James Patterson Honors Program, students are expected to take 4 honors or honors
contracted courses plus complete a high impact portfolio project; attend the speaker series
events; and participate in professional development workshops, community engagement
opportunities, and our Mentoring Program. As an added benefit, honors students receive priority
course registration and graduate with honors transcript recognition. To remain in the program
students must maintain a GPA of 3.2 or better. If they fall below that threshold, they must
develop an action plan with the Executive Director of the program in order to remain in the
program.
Becoming a James Patterson Honors Student
Ordinarily, students who receive Presidential and Trustees Scholarships will be invited to join
the James Patterson Honors Program upon their admission to Manhattan university. Invited
students must save their spot in the program upon committing to the university.
